5K monitors enable you to see more detail than lower resolution displays thanks to a high pixel density. With a 5K monitor, image details can be seen more clearly regardless of whether you are viewing pictures, watching a video, or reading text. Buy a new 5K monitor for your Windows PC or Mac to enjoy exceptionally detailed, vibrant images.

Why do I need a 5K monitor?
If you want a better viewing experience than what a Full HD or 4K UHD monitor can provide, go with a 5K monitor. As implied by the nomenclature, a 5K monitor has a higher resolution than a 4K and FHD monitor, which means you get more pixels in terms of length and width with a 5K display. An image displayed on a 5K screen appears more detailed and sharper compared to the same image projected from lower resolution monitors.
How is 5K better than 4K?
Consumer-grade 4K monitors have a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. Cinematic 4K resolution meanwhile has 4096 x 2160 pixels. When you compare these to 5K’s 5120 x 2880 resolution (most common 5K resolution), it is not a surprise that you get to see much clearer images with lesser pixelation at the same screen size. This higher resolution means a clearer image. Creators can more easily produce more realistic images with greater detail.
Is it practical to buy a 5K monitor?
We need to consider three things.
First, the adoption rate of 4K displays, from TVs to computer monitors, has been increasing over the years. Second, 8K (7680 × 4320 resolution) is now available in devices such as TVs. However, whether 8K will be a future standard, 8K displays remain at a premium price point ordinary consumers cannot afford. Third, support for 5K technology is also on the rise in terms of hardware (e.g. cameras, graphics cards) and content (e.g. games, videos, etc.). 5K, therefore, offers a middle ground between 4K and 8K. 5K can be considered a good investment for 'future-proofing'.
What type of 5K monitor should I get?
It depends on what you are going to use it for. If you are a creator, we recommend you get a professional 5K monitor like the LG 27MD5KL-B.
