Mwave can help you buy 2.5” HDDs for your laptop, small form-factor or external enclosure. Some NAS and DAS boxes also use 2.5” HDDs. 2.5” HDDs often cost more per GB than 3.5” HDDs however have decreased dimensions. 2.5” HDDs from brands such as Seagate, Western Digital (WD), Toshiba and Hitachi (HGST) are available at Mwave.
Can I use a 2.5” HDD in my desktop?
Yes, as long as you have a vacant 2.5” SSD/HDD drive bay. Do note that this generally isn’t recommended due to the increased cost per GB over 3.5” HDDs. While most desktops are fine some may have a height limit of 9mm or 12mm in which case the high capacity 2.5” HDDs - such as the Seagate 5TB BarraCuda 2.5” HDD - may not fit. The same limitations generally apply to most NAS/DAS boxes, laptops and some external drive enclosures.
