Mwave can help you buy HDDs for your NAS (Network Attached Storage) or DAS (Direct Attached Storage). Companies such as Synology, QNAP, Drobo and more all offer NAS and DAS devices which you must populate with your own HDDs. NAS HDDs are also available in 2.5" and 3.5" form factors. Mwave stocks NAS HDDs from Western Digital (WD), Seagate and Hitachi (HGST).
NAS HDD or ‘Pro’ NAS HDD?
Seagate and WD have both standard and pro NAS HDDs. Standard NAS HDDs - such as the WD Red 8TB – spin at 5400rpm and work great in consumer NAS boxes or in other less demanding environments. Pro NAS HDDs - such as the Seagate 12TB Ironwolf Pro - spin at a higher 7200rpm for improved access times and increased read/write speeds.
Can I use NAS HDDs in my PC?
Yes, if the manufacturer lists it as compatible with your desired OS and has the correct interface. It is normally not recommended to do this though due to NAS HDDs normally having a price premium over standard desktop HDDs.
