Find the best headset at Mwave
When on the hunt for a headset consider whether you need a business headset, a gaming headset, or a more versatile headset that can be taken on the road. For professional use Logitech or Jabra are safe bets offering best-in-class audio for a seamless hybrid work experience.
The best business headsets typically have dual or triple connectivity, long battery life, passive noise cancellation and a long wireless range for added peace of mind during phone calls. Phone headsets for office, call centres, or general work requirements provide superior sound along with multi-device usability.
Those in the market for a truly immersive gaming experience can’t go wrong with headsets from trusted brands HyperX, Razer and Corsair.
What is the difference between headphones and headset?
While headphones are for listening to audio, headsets are used for communications like video conferencing, gaming and calls.
Headsets consist of the following components:
- Earpiece: Can be over-ear, on-ear, or in-ear. These can be noise-cancelling with rich, fully immersive sound.
- Microphone: A built-in microphone usually appears in the form of an adjustable boom arm.
- Wired or wireless: Wired models may require specific cables and ports.
- Other key features: Battery operated or rechargeable. Light up features to notify others when a call is underway. Phone and multi-device compatibility is common in business headsets.
Can you use any headset for Xbox One?
A 3.5mm audio jack is required to connect headsets not specifically designed for Xbox directly to an Xbox wireless controller. Alternatively an Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter can be used to connect a headset to your Xbox Series X, S, or Xbox One console. Ideally an Xbox compatible headset should be used for the best gaming experience. Mwave carries a selection of gaming headsets for Xbox One, PC, PS5 and Switch.
Wireless headset vs wired
Wireless headsets and wired headsets each have their own distinct advantages and disadvantages:
- Sound quality: Thanks to improved Bluetooth technology, wireless headsets have caught up in terms of sound quality, however, attuned ears may still pick up a slight difference between the two.
- Range: The obvious pro for wireless headsets is the increased range. A wired headphone range can extend up to 5.5m with an extra-long cable, while a number of wireless headsets can deliver superb sound from 30-100m away.
- Latency: Wired connections don’t lag like Bluetooth connections which means the former will deliver instant playback compared to the latter.
